Change: A Letter From the Editor

We often hear that change is the one constant in human experience.  Change is definitely what we have been experiencing here at Mythic Passages and the Mythic Imagination® Institute. Some of the change is "coming of age"  change; some is evolutionary change; and some has been very sad change.

I’ll begin with the sad:

We lost two members of our MII Leadership Team to death. Our trusted anchor, George Bingaman, husband of Kathleen, died after an extended illness from which we all hoped he would recover.  He was a part of our Mythic Journeys® efforts from the beginning and part of our Alliance for a New Humanity projects.  Kathleen Bingaman has written more about his life in an article here. We all miss him.

We also lost our newest team member just after she joined us.  S’rae Saffold and her two teen age sons had moved back to the United States from Great Britain last year.  She had begun Brite Sparks, a group of teen writers, which MII hopes to continue in her memory.  S’rae was brimming with ideas and support for this magazine.  She was just beginning her work with us when she died suddenly from a severe asthma attack.

And then, one of our original members, Dennis Papp, lost his daughter, Sara, after

her extended illness.

Next, the evolutionary change:

Michael Karlin is in graduate school, now at Emory University, working towards his doctorate.  Sheri Kling is in Chicago in graduate school at the Lutheran School of Theology.  They are both still very much a part of our MII Leadership Team, but their studies are their current priorities. Brenda Sutton is no longer Mythic Passages™ Publisher, although she has promised to continue to contribute articles when she can.  Brenda and her husband, Bill, moved to Indiana, where she has a new job and new challenges.  We deeply appreciate all of her good work all of these years.

Finally, and with excitement, to our new efforts, and to the ‘coming of age’ change:

The MII Leadership Team, especially Honora Foah, has been working to develop our second Applied Mythology course coming soon.
